Rencontre autour des identités queer musulmanes
Listen to a podcast produced by Klaam, followed by a meeting with Ludovic Mohamed Zahed
About this event
Loulou is a young man in his thirties. The youngest of his siblings, he grows up in a loving family in Algeria. Despite the love and kindness around him, Loulou feels uneasy. He finds it difficult to fully be himself without having to hide certain parts of his identity—particularly his attraction to men, in an environment where everything reminds him that homosexuality is forbidden. For a long time, Loulou accepts this prohibition and experiences his sexual orientation as a sin. Today, he accepts himself as he is and describes himself as Muslim, Algerian, and gay. For a long time, these three realities seemed impossible to reconcile.
Organization: CIDFF Phocéen- Marseille
In 2020, for November 25, we wanted to create a unique event in Marseille to bring visibility to violence against women and gender minorities, and to introduce our organizations to the general public.
November 25 is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Established by the UN in 1999, it commemorates the three Mirabal sisters, Dominican activists who were brutally murdered on the orders of the then head of state, Rafael Trujillo.
For the occasion, we wanted to create something that would make it possible to approach the difficult subject of violence from different angles. We therefore called on artists from Marseille to produce or co-create content related to this theme, using a range of formats, tools, and approaches for different audiences.
That is how J'crains dégun was born. We are now opening its 4th edition!
