Rencontre avec Louis Lefebvre - Textile en atelier

A discussion around Adrien Vescovi’s exhibition “Dormir comme le soleil”.

Textile en atelier: Les Rendez-vous This program offers individual meetings with artists and designers working with textiles who are based in the Marseille area, some of whom have worked in Adrien Vescovi’s studio. Organized as appointments, these special opportunities for exchange allow the public to discover practices that intimately combine know-how and artistic creation.

Designer and artist, Louis Lefebvre views textiles as a foldable plane: an interface between the body and open space. His practice, between sculpture and design, celebrates the nomadic nature of textiles, both mobile shelter and interior covering. His sculptures and objects are thus inserted into unique spatial contexts or produce space themselves. By collecting materials, fibers and stories, and using vernacular craft machines, he shapes soft volumes, covered skins and tactile architectures, evoking the fragile boundary between nomadic and sedentary life.

For “Textile en atelier”, Louis Lefebvre will share his textile experiments with the public, working both with the material and through the material. Starting with wool that he collects and saves from destruction, and using a traditional felting machine, Louis Lefebvre creates new materials and new uses.
