Rencontre avec Margot Graziani - Textile en atelier

A discussion around Adrien Vescovi’s exhibition “Dormir comme le soleil”.

Textile en atelier: Les Rendez-vous This program offers individual meetings with artists and designers working with textiles who are based in the Marseille area, some of whom have worked in Adrien Vescovi’s studio. Organized as appointments, these special opportunities for exchange allow the public to discover practices that intimately combine know-how and artistic creation.

Participants in the visit to Adrien Vescovi’s exhibition will also have access to a meeting with Margot Graziani. Margot Graziani uses weaving as a way of sculpting color. A textile artist, she explores the shifts between drawing and the warp, gesture and material, giving colors a dual impetus: first developing them carefully in the studio, then sculpting them through a manual weaving practice. Her works become volumes and play with the warp as though it were a language. Drawing on centuries-old know-how, her visual creations open the way to applications in design and contemporary artistic developments.

As part of “Textile en atelier”, Margot Graziani invites the public to discover her creative world. She uses fibers that reflect her geographical roots in the Drôme (straw from neighboring farms, river rushes, etc.), develops her own colors (mainly from plants and natural materials, but also from inks and primary-color paints that she reworks in the studio), and views weaving as a formal exploration—at once a designer’s material, a painting and a sculpture.
