Across a period

About this event

Summer, Autumn, Winter, Spring—Kif travels through time as well as space. After the merciless Summer, burning to excess, she ventures along the peaceful woodland paths, in the coolness that has returned. She entrusts the rust- and gold-colored foliage to acrylic on her canvases, as one might save a fading light. Exhausted Nature prepares for its rest. And then comes Spring, in Japan, Hanami, when an entire people come to admire the brief and spectacular beauty of cherry blossoms, is only a moment, an apparition destined to disappear. But Kif knows how to capture the ephemeral with the tips of her brushes. Her techniques: watercolors, inks and, of course, acrylics, with sanding and reworking of glazes. Kif has made her living from art. A visual arts teacher trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Toulouse, she developed a whole range of skills and tools that she was able to pass on to generations of high school students. After working in Toulouse and then Aurillac, she now lives in Aix-en-Provence. President until 2015 of the Académie Libre (an Aix-based association offering workshops in various art forms), she continues her work there, driven by the conviction that engaging with others, collaboration and sharing are essential to any artistic process. She is also continuing her commitment to the Artistes indépendants aixois (AIA).
