Sebastian Marx is ready to make audiences laugh at Espace Julien in Marseille with his work-in-progress show
Espace Julien welcomes Sebastian Marx on Sunday, January 9, 2028 at 5 p.m. for an evening that is not quite like the others. The French-American comedian takes the stage with a new show still being developed: the content has not yet been finalized, making this a raw and lively experience somewhere between creation and a finished performance. In Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, this is a rare opportunity to witness a show being born.
A work-in-progress show is the art of testing material in front of a real audience before it is fully cooked—to use the artist’s own tasty metaphor. Imperfect by nature and spontaneous at heart, this type of performance often produces the best moments. For fans of shows in Marseille, it is an opportunity to experience something authentic and unique in Espace Julien’s program.

Sebastian Marx, a French-American comedian with an offbeat perspective
Sebastian Marx is a French-American comedian born in New York who began performing stand-up in New York clubs at the age of 17. After studying film and communications at Boston University, he moved to France around 2010, first to Toulouse and then to Paris, where he established his reputation in the French-speaking live entertainment world.
His dual French-American identity is the guiding thread of his artistic world: observations of everyday life, cultural misunderstandings and linguistic subtleties. He has appeared at the Jamel Comedy Club, as a columnist on RTL and France Inter, and at several comedy festivals. His previous show, On est bien là, was praised by audiences and critics.
