When dance explores the energy of human revolts and the strength that unites bodies in the face of injustice, toward a breath of hope. Powerful and collective, this new creation explores the energy of uprising. Inspired by the revolt movements that run through history, the piece presents bodies that come together, disperse and rise again. Through this exploration, dance becomes a language of freedom and opens a space where the most beautiful feelings of fraternity, solidarity and renewal can emerge. The twelve performers, accompanied by music created by Irène Drésel, embody a multitude of resistances—individual and collective—carried by the same breath of hope. Uprising is the latest creation by choreographer Angelin Preljocaj, director of the Centre Chorégraphique National d’Aix-en-Provence. His creations, sometimes inspired by the classical repertoire, are resolutely contemporary and constantly renew the dialogue between the arts.
