Textile en atelier : entre art, artisanat, design textile / frontières et porosités

Visit - Meeting - Discussion around Adrien Vescovi’s exhibition “Dormir comme le soleil”.

As part of Adrien Vescovi’s exhibition Dormir comme le soleil at the Centre de la Vieille Charité, the Museums of Marseille invite you to a time for reflection. Far from the fixed labels that might be applied to these practices, this gathering brings together local artists to explore the vibrant permeability between contemporary art, art crafts and design. In the 21st century, creators are reinventing their status: they move between the roles of artist, craftsperson and entrepreneur to shape new economic models and respond to commissions, sometimes in the field of architecture.

At the heart of the discussions, the material dictates its own rules. Like ceramic artists, textile artists face the physical demands of their material—dyeing, tension, drying—a technical confrontation that imposes the humility of the maker. The guests will also explore the unique duality of textiles, an intimate material close to the body before transforming into a design object, or even a monumental wall or façade.

2–3:30 p.m.: Visit of the exhibition Dormir comme le soleil with Adrien Vescovi and discovery of Margot Graziani’s woven creations 3:30–5 p.m.: Public discussion around Adrien Vescovi’s exhibition at the Centre de la Vieille Charité on the permeability of the boundaries between art, crafts and textile design in the 21st century. With artists Adrien Vescovi, Margot Graziani and Louis Lefebvre, and Bauhaus specialist art historian Sigrid Pawelke
