About this event
The company opens its training sessions to professionals, dancers, circus artists and actors with a regular physical practice. These sessions bring together dancers and circus artists from Marseille, the region, elsewhere in France and sometimes internationally, creating a dynamic exchange through movement. Beyond the pleasure of meeting and practicing together, the company’s training sessions give dancers time to focus on their bodies, preparing for or recovering from periods of creation or performance.
For this new season, we are bringing back some sessions that combine training with MUNZ FLOOR®.
These sessions begin with 1h15 of MUNZ FLOOR®, which works directly on the fascia and awakens body awareness. This is followed by Ex Nihilo’s specific floor work for physical preparation, and the session concludes with work on space and movement.
The other sessions will focus on the company’s more specific work with contact and relationships with others and the surrounding environment.
They will be led by Anne Le Batard and/or Jean-Antoine Bigot, with Marie-Pierre Galus during the MUNZ FLOOR® sessions.

Compagnie Ex Nihilo was founded in 1994 with a clear intention: to take dance out of the rehearsal studio and off the stage—to “push back the walls?”—and meet the public, make public spaces a preferred place for research and creation, and connect public spaces with arts venues by reimagining and renewing forms for the stage and for distinctive spaces.
Working outdoors means exploring space through the body, in a way renewed by each place—and experiencing a relationship with the “viewer,” whether passerby or resident, outside a formal setting and without an invitation. This is where movement and choreographic writing begin. And when we perform at a festival or return indoors, we bring with us the experience of spending time in these places and with the movement of others. We are also strengthened by a dance that is necessarily responsive and embodied: the idea of the group, the group’s power, is at the heart of our dance.
Ex Nihilo tours in France and internationally and shares its work through workshops, training sessions, courses and educational projects in schools. Based since 2017 at the Cité des arts de la rue in Marseille, now its home base, the company continues to create work locally in an ongoing relationship with its international partners, while welcoming other artists and companies.
