Tangible 2026 - Vaisseaux - Ce(lleux) qui reste(nt)
This event has ended. It belongs to an archived festival programme.
About this event
Since November 2024, Vaisseaux, led by Caroline Pelletti Victor, has brought together artists, designers and craftspeople in a distinctive collaborative creative process: creating a collection of contemporary funerary objects. These objects include urns, shrouds and a coffin, as well as objects intended for the loved ones of deceased people: objects of memory and/or ritual.
Each person is free to create the object of their choice. Together, the group develops a shared bibliography, meets regularly to nourish its research, and meets various figures from the funeral sector, the contemporary art world and design, as well as philosophers, psychologists, archaeologists, etc. Each piece emerges from this shared ground, the singularity of each creator and a demanding curatorial commission.
Although Vaisseaux is intended to have an international reach, the project is rooted in a vibrant creative territory: the South, with its artists, designers and craftspeople (both emerging and established), brought together by a shared capacity for research and sensitivity to the questions the project explores.
A support network is woven among these creators (materials, techniques, cultural knowledge, network connections), whose ramifications extend well beyond the project, nourishing other collaborations elsewhere and in other ways.
As part of Tangible 2026, the productions from 2025/2026 of this line of research will be presented: objects intended for the loved ones of deceased people, objects of memory and/or ritual. What remains for those who remain?
A collective testimony to a process that, in October, will have existed for two years and will bring together more than 80 creators, around fifty of them from the region. Exhibition and discussion for the first public presentation of the 2026 research and productions.
