Warhaus: the career of a Belgian artist with a “black-pop” universe

Warhaus is the solo project of Maarten Devoldere, a Belgian singer and singer-songwriter who is also the co-founder of the band Balthazar. Launched in 2016 with the album We Fucked a Flame into Being, the project is distinguished by a dark, cinematic aesthetic, an instantly recognizable baritone voice, and acknowledged influences ranging from Leonard Cohen to Serge Gainsbourg.

Over the years, Warhaus has built a coherent and ambitious discography, from the eponymous album Warhaus (2017) to Ha Ha Heartbreak (2022), via Karaoke Moon (2024). Honored by the Belgian MIA's in 2017 and 2023, the artist has established himself as one of the most highly regarded figures on the European independent scene, with a regular presence at French festivals.

How do you get to Espace Julien in Marseille?

Located right in the city center, Espace Julien in Marseille is easily accessible by public transport. The most direct option is metro line M2, with Notre-Dame-du-Mont – Cours Julien station just a 3-minute walk away. The tram is also a good alternative: line T1 (Noailles stop) is 5 minutes away, while line T2 (Canebière-Garibaldi or Canebière Capucins stops) is about a 7-minute walk away.

For those who prefer to come by car, several routes are possible from the A7, A50 and A55 motorways. An underground car park with 630 spaces is available at the foot of the venue (Parking Cours Julien), open 24/7, with a capped night-time rate of €5 from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. It also has 10 spaces for people with reduced mobility and electric charging stations.
