Organization: Order of Friars Minor - The Franciscans

We are Franciscans, Catholic religious members of the Order of Friars Minor. Following Francis of Assisi, we share the same desire to follow Jesus, poor and crucified.

Our France-Belgium Province has 10 fraternities: houses of senior friars, located in cities or serving a shrine, they take many different forms! Do not hesitate to come through the doors of our chapels to share a time of prayer or meet the friars.

Saint Francis of Assisi did not want to choose between a contemplative order and an apostolic order, that is, one living in the world. He wanted to bring these two dimensions together. While contemplation and prayer are at the heart of our lives, mission also has an essential place in them. Our vocation is to be a Church community open to all, with a particular presence at the margins of society.

In France, since 2017, the Franciscan Family has entered a decade of celebrations that will culminate on October 4, 2026, with the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi.
