Alternative Fantasy 2026

Editorial

Alternative Fantasy presents modern tales that balance beauty and the uncanny. The films Otesanek and La casa lobo stage difficult themes—the anxiety of parenthood in the first and indoctrination in the second—as horror tales in which fears born of a very real world give rise to uncontrollable monsters. Their direction both makes use of unique forms of stop-motion, bringing nightmarish worlds to life from which small moments of grace sometimes emerge. Two experiences that are both singular and difficult, which in turn amaze and unsettle you and, after swallowing you up and spitting you out of their worlds, leave a mark on you.
