La Barbe Bleue

A children’s show for ages 5 and up, based on Charles Perrault’s fairy tale “Bluebeard”. By forbidding his young wife access to the little dark room, Bluebeard arouses her curiosity without satisfying it. But the desire to know what the room contains is stronger, and when Bluebeard goes away, the young woman cannot resist the temptation. Many versions have marked the history of this tale, to the point where it is no longer clear whether a real news story inspired it or whether the tale itself gave birth to the famous legend… In this show, music, set design and video serve a universe that is both disturbing and wonderful, whose poetry provides a genuine counterpoint to the barbarity evoked.
