La Nuit de l'Instant / La Traversée photographique

Created by Centre Photographique Marseille, this event is taking place on the occasion of the Bicentenary of Photography in different cities across France, showcasing still and moving images for one night in extraordinary venues. The event is taking place in Marseille, Lorient, Strasbourg, Rémire-Montjoly (French Guiana) and Le Vigan (Cévennes). \- In Marseille, Centre Photographique Marseille (the Les ateliers de l'image association) is offering a cultural event dedicated to photography in all its forms, in the form of a daytime and nighttime artistic trail occupying unexpected locations in Marseille’s urban fabric. Its purpose is twofold: to introduce the general public to a carefully selected range of photographic works and contribute to the lively rediscovery of the neighborhoods hosting it. By moving beyond traditional art spaces, La Nuit de l'Instant creates an accessible, festive cultural experience directly connected to the area. The 11th Marseille edition invites the public to explore around ten different locations in Marseille’s 2nd arrondissement, on a festive stroll themed around the Bicentenary of Photography, creating a dialogue between the work and its surroundings. The program will take you to schools, restaurants, social centers, artists’ studios, galleries, bars…and other surprise venues that will make up the route. La Nuit de l'instant will occupy, over one weekend, Centre Photographique Marseille (74 rue de la Joliette, 13002 Marseille), Urban Gallery (9 Rue Mazenod, 13002 Marseille) and PAC le lieu (20 rue Saint-Antoine, 13002 Marseille). This project is produced as part of the Photographic Crossing, a program of events presented by the Diagonal network, awarded the Bicentenary of Photography label by the Ministry of Culture, and forms part of the official program running from September 1, 2026 to September 30, 2027.
