Since 2021, La Caverne has been committed to introducing audiences to, familiarizing them with and promoting every style of jazz by organizing concerts, master classes, talks and debates, all in a warm and unusual setting.
Pianist and producer Simon Bolzinger, a tireless promoter of South American music for more than three decades, blurs the boundaries with his new quintet: jazz or salsa? Do we listen or dance? Or both!
It is called « Cántalo » because it invites us to sing, in Spanish, but not only. The essential thing is for the music to be delicious to listen to, « sabrosa! », bringing together the joy of South American music and the freedom of jazz.
The voice of singer Maura Isabel and the percussion of Yoandy San Martin, both Cuban, join the trio formed by the pianist around ten years ago. They deliver an energized, vocal version of the traditional grooves in their eclectic repertoire, drawn from the Caribbean and the entire South American continent: Cuban rumba, Uruguayan candombe, Venezuelan merengue, Peruvian waltz and Brazilian maracatu… things are going to heat up!
Making room for improvisation and emotion, Cántalo surprises and carries us away with music that is both free and virtuosic, shaking us up, drawing us onto the dance floor and having us all singing together.
