Bill Pierce 4tet
About this event
Since 2021, La Caverne has been committed to introducing audiences to, familiarizing them with and promoting every style of jazz by organizing concerts, master classes, talks and debates, all in a warm and unusual setting.
A great American jazz saxophonist born in 1948, Bill Pierce has played with Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers, Tony Williams 5tet, Dizzy Gillespie, Sam Jones, Stevie Wonder, Max Roach, Wynton Marsalis, Freddie Hubbard, Art Farmer, Hank Jones, James Williams, Kevin Eubanks, Branford Marsalis…
He is a true giant of the tenor saxophone. He has trained countless musicians and has been in top form since retiring from his position as “woodwinds chair” at the prestigious Berklee School, where he trained today’s most renowned saxophonists.
He is now enjoying a well-deserved retirement from teaching and is performing again in concerts and on tour. It is a rare opportunity to hear him in Europe, where he has not performed for a very long time.
The music is festive, both modern and rooted in tradition, swing and blues.
