About this event

“Follow the river where the city hides it” Les Passeurs de l'Huveaune is a collective, sensory and poetic walk imagined by Marien Guillé, poet and walker. Along the way, there will be readings and pockets of silence to rediscover the other side of our everyday landscapes. This second edition will focus more on WRITING. So bring your pencils and pens, and let your imagination take it from there. Don’t forget your picnic, water, comfortable walking shoes, notebook and pens. And GOOD CHEER.

Follow the river where the city hides it…

Les Passeurs de l’Huveaune is a collective, playful, sensory and poetic walk imagined by Marien Guillé, poet and walker, users of GRAIN de la Vallée and local residents. This urban exploration walk connects the third places Le GRAIN de la Vallée and the Cité de la Gardanne (Saint-Loup), not far from Le Talus. The walk will include moments of sharing, readings, pockets of silence and CREATIVE WRITING, to rediscover the other side of our everyday landscapes.

Of course, our route will be strewn with obstacles—noise, concrete, visual pollution and ecological damage—but we will try to get around them to rediscover the working-class soul of our neighborhoods, passing through Saint-Menet, La Montre, Saint-Marcel, La Pomme and Saint-Loup.

In La Pomme, we will cross part of the Huveaune on foot (if you have rubber boots, feel free to bring them), along with a small towel.

Walkers, dreamers, residents, become guides, witnesses to the transformation of our territory, and let’s write the map of this adventure together.

Remember to bring a hat, picnic, plenty of water, an RTM bus card if you have one, a camera, a writing notebook and your favorite pen.

Organized by: Le GRAIN de la Vallée

Since 2019, GRAIN de la Vallée has been a community third place where nature and culture coexist across 9000 m². It has been awarded the “cultural third place” label by DRAC PACA. Its work is built around two fundamental pillars: protecting the environment and showcasing local artists.

• Gardens open to everyone. The site’s gardens are true biodiversity havens, inviting you to stroll and explore: follow a sensory trail, discover the butterfly garden, the micro-forest or the forest garden, and enjoy a lovely vegetable garden and a welcoming pétanque court.

• A space for creativity. Le Grain supports local talent by providing artist residency spaces and a gallery. Throughout the seasons, the venue comes alive with concerts, neighborhood celebrations and Fête de la musique events. Every year, an artist is given a “carte blanche,” with the sole brief of exploring the local area, with residents taking part.

• A community café where people love to meet. It is the beating heart of the venue, bringing generations together and building lasting bonds through sharing and passing on knowledge. The café now hosts a year-round cultural program (theater, literary café…) and leisure activities for children and adults, including during school holidays… Playful, educational breaks that bring everyone together!

• A community of committed projects. Le GRAIN welcomes independent organizations and wellness practitioners who share our values:

  • The urban agricultural business “Fleurs de Marseille” and its ecological flower farm, which supports the growth of French-grown flowers.

  • The urban agriculture association “Mastoc” and its nursery, which supplies diverse and resilient gardens.

  • The company “Vé c'est Steph qui cuisine” and its food truck, offering healthy and varied food.

  • The eco-construction association “Raz-de-terre” and its artisanal brickworks, which are making raw earth construction accessible again.

  • The Aubagne ceramicists’ association “Argile circulaire,” which pools unused raw materials.

  • Wellness practitioners offering yoga, Pilates, dance, sophrology, reiki, parent-child workshops and connection workshops.
