With BRAISES, Michel Kelemenis looks in the rear-view mirror without ever lingering there. The choreographer brings together seven performers for a piece turned simultaneously toward the past and the present... No revival, no compilation. Kelemenis prefers to rekindle his intangible archives and entrust them to the bodies of the dancers. It is up to them to take hold of them, transform them, set these movements back into circulation and make this heritage their own. The past becomes fuel for dancing here and now. BRAISES is made up of these incandescent remnants, this smouldering energy ready to flare up. The bodies commit, respond to one another and take risks. Between control and letting go, movement is created in the present. Momentum takes the place of nostalgia; dancing becomes a living way of making the past burst into flame, keeping only the desire to start again. Here, the beating heart is the transmission of the pleasure of dancing: an energy that circulates, changes and persists as close as possible to the bodies. Shared, it becomes an insolent and free bonfire.
