This concert offers an immersion into the double-bass quintet, a rare ensemble with an exceptionally rich range of sounds.

The program brings together two major works from the 19th century: Franz Schubert’s famous Trout Quintet and a quintet by Louise Farrenc, a leading composer and teacher who long remained in the shadow of her contemporaries.

By bringing these works together, the project highlights two complementary approaches to chamber music: Schubert’s luminous, narrative and immediately accessible writing, and Farrenc’s musical depth and formal rigor, which reveal a distinctive and powerful voice.
