Its aim is to support and promote innovative and bold short films while making them accessible to as many people as possible through screenings, discussions and masterclasses. With the support of the SUD Region, the City of Marseille, the Museums of Marseille and the Bouches-du-Rhône Departmental Council. ► Saturday, September 5 at 4 p.m. Guest: Guil Sela, director of No skate! Guil Sela is a young filmmaker and photographer. After his first short film, La Flamme Olympique, he directed Santa Maria Kyoko in 2023, selected for the Côté Court festival, and Montsouris, which won the Leitz Prize at Critics’ Week at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. His new film, No skate!, is presented at Critics’ Week 2025. He is currently writing his first feature film. - “Il manque toujours quelque chose (surtout quand on ne sait pas quoi chercher)” by Paul Rigoux [fiction - 27 min - 2025 - Les Films Norfolk] Abraham finishes a concert in front of an almost empty hall. As he packs up his equipment, a woman calls out to him: he has forgotten something on stage. Unfortunately, Abraham has no idea what she is talking about, and the stage is empty. A strange nocturnal wandering begins in search of this something. - “J’attends Joël” by Alain Cavalier [documentary - 11 min - 2007 - Les Films de l'Astrophore] It is the World Cup football final between France and Italy. There is no television in this guest room in the middle of the countryside, and Joël does not arrive… - “I once was lost” by Emma Limon [fiction - 11 min - 2023 - Marine Schappely] One evening in 2008, my father, John, got lost in the Boston suburbs. - “No skate!” by Guil Sela [fiction - 24 min - 2025 - Les Films Norfolk] Paris, 2024 Olympic Games. Isaac is a sandwich man. Cléo is a sandwich woman. One day, Isaac sees Cléo throw a skateboard into the water. ► Saturday, October 3 at 4 p.m. Guest: Hadrien Bels, director of Nouvel Hair Hadrien Bels was born in 1979 and grew up in Marseille, in the Panier district. In 2020, his first novel, Cinq dans tes yeux, an autofictional novel paying tribute to 1990s Marseille, was published by L'Iconoclaste. In 2022, he published his second novel, Tibi La Blanche. Alongside his work as a writer, Hadrien Bels develops projects for cinema. With producer Manuel Chiche, he began adapting his first book and writing the series Comoria, about Marseille’s Comorian community. He co-wrote the documentary Team Jul, devoted to one of the major figures of French rap and broadcast on France Télévisions. - “Les vergers” by Antoine Chapon [documentary - 24 min - 2025 – Petit Chaos] In Damascus in 2015, the Basateen al-Razi district and its orchards were razed to punish the population for rising up against the regime. Having lost everything, two former residents of the district remember. - “Taxi Wala” by Lola Frederich [fiction - 16 min - 2007 – Château-Rouge Production] A taxi driver begins his working day. He takes a woman who gives him her address. When he arrives, the driver realizes that the indicated place does not exist. He gradually becomes aware that the woman he is driving is completely lost. Unable to get home, she knows only one thing: from her apartment window, she can see trains passing by. - “La bitrote” by Alain Cavalier [documentary - 13 min – 1987 – Camera One] “I am a pedestrian in Paris. I have a passion for this city. I always ask myself the same question: which small part of this immensity should I film? These twelve portraits of women at work are the first part of an answer” (Alain Cavalier). - “L’œil noir” by Yohanne Lamoulère [documentary, research / essay - 18 min – 2025 – Les Films du Bal] A roundabout on the outskirts of the city. An emblematic place in the French landscape, little noticed and poorly loved. Many see it as nothing but a hole, a gaping void. But by leaning into this crossroads, this vortex, throwing oneself right into its eye, one encounters a vibrant world—the vitality of an entire neighborhood. - “Nouvel Hair” by Hadrien Bels [fiction - 15 min - 2025 - The Jokers Films, Spade] In Marseille, the sale of Skander’s hair salon depends on the decision of Juliette, a young Parisian woman. Mehdi, the apprentice, has his future riding on a call from the bank. It will be a long day... ► Saturday, November 7 at 4 p.m. Guest: Sébastien Betbeder, director of L’éternité Special screening as part of the 27th edition of Documentary Film Month. After studying at the École des Beaux-Arts and then at Le Fresnoy, Sébastien Betbeder has made more than twenty films, moving freely from shorts to features, including Nuage, 2 automnes 3 hivers, Inupiluk (for which he received the Jean Vigo Prize), and most recently L’incroyable femme des neiges, starring actress and comedian Blanche Gardin, presented at the Berlinale and released in theaters in 2025. Made with a commitment to independence, his films allow him to experiment with all kinds of narratives, with comedy as his preferred genre. - “Ni dieu ni père” by Paul Kermarec [documentary, fiction - 11 min – 2025 - Yukunkun Productions] The film explores the intimate relationship a young man has with the Internet.
