About this event
Editorial
The LFKs-Jean Michel Bruyère collective has occupied a workshop, Les Cathédrales, at La Friche Belle de Mai since 2006. “The place is hybrid, quickly familiar, hard to describe,” wrote Rachid Laïreche in an article published in Libération in August 2025. The article was about Sup de Sub, a neighborhood higher education school, an initiative run by LFKs from 2019 to 2025, with the workshop as a central venue. (Videodrome 2 partnered with Sup de Sub, hosting many screenings for its students.) In the LFKs workshop, a place for work and creation, Sup de Sub students created and shared their work, attended classes, and recorded Twitch broadcasts, all among the LFKs collective’s works, installed and moved around… Everyone who had the chance to spend time in this workshop shared Rachid Laïreche’s feeling: it was a good place to be—alert, amused and moved, surprised and astonished, alive. It is hard to describe, indeed: that is the nature of beauty—to be indescribable. What made this vast storage floor in a former factory beautiful? Was it because this beauty had turned bitter, or because someone had wanted to insult it? In any case, we must speak of it in the past tense. The LFKs collective is leaving La Friche (and we will tactfully say that this is not entirely the collective’s doing). An exhibition of the collective’s works is on at La Friche from October 24 to December 13, 2026. At Videodrome 2, we are showing three films by the collective, made as part of three of these initiatives.

IDM (Inner Direct Metaphysics) – Partie 3
by the LFKs Collective and Jean Michel Bruyère | 2023 | France | 1h30
In 2043, as the ecosystem continues to decline, Sébastien Ka, an autistic psychologist specializing in life in space, is sent to a station drifting in the constellation Canis Major, called Laelaps and operated by Paroïka, a company that uses humans drawn from the vast mass of climate migrants as sources of cerebral entertainment for an audience on Earth. Exposed to cosmic radiation, the migrants produce I.D.M.s, inner direct metaphors that replace traditional forms of art and cultural industry. The migrants, however, hijack the system to express their rebellion and create a collective work through which they travel in spirit to Earth and back, in a kind of endless sidereal conveyance with neither beginning nor end (a feature underscored by the rotating structure of the narrative). Faced with apparitions and unsettling memories of his own, Ka discovers that the station is not merely a modern prison, but a place of struggle where migrants resist and reclaim their humanity.
The LFKs collective was hosted in residence from 2016 to 2018 by MC93 and Théâtre de la Poudrerie in Sevran. The collective’s artistic work, led by Jean Michel Bruyère, was regularly presented at the Festival d’Avignon under the co-direction of Hortense Archambault and Vincent Baudriller. Through its encounters with local partners, the LFKs collective turned to producing a film, IDM, based on documented events in Seine-Saint-Denis and freely inspired by the world of science fiction, first and foremost by Andrei Tarkovsky’s Solaris, as well as by various poets. Jean Michel Bruyère worked between Bobigny and Sevran and developed his screenplay and filming project with the participants he met and with whom he shared this adventure. The result is a magnificent, contemplative, and unusual film.
