Dragonette
A charming comic opera originally composed for Vienna, full of tenderness but also a touch of madness...
About this event
LES DIMANCHES D’OFFENBACH
Jean-Christophe Keck, a leading Offenbach specialist, pairs one-act operettas with short musical works composed by Offenbach at the same time, much to the audience’s delight!
The action takes place in a military camp surrounded by the enemy. Dragonette, Sergeant Lambert’s adopted daughter, pretends to be his twin brother Julien, who could be accused of desertion. In reality, Julien has gone to seek reinforcements… Far from slapstick, Offenbach succeeds above all in tugging at the heartstrings. The couplets “Yes, I lied” prove that he did not have to wait until maturity to become a great Romantic composer...
