Exposition de l'artiste Simon Berger au Pavillon Monticelli

On October 16 and 17, artist Simon Berger will be exhibited at Pavillon Monticelli. This is the artist’s first solo exhibition in Marseille. Known worldwide for his monumental portraits created directly on glass, Simon Berger has developed an immediately recognizable practice. Armed with a hammer, he does not shape the material: he fractures it. Thousands of precisely placed impacts gradually compose faces of striking presence. Up close, the image disappears into a network of cracks; from a distance, the portrait emerges with an almost photographic intensity. For Berger, destruction becomes a visual language, in which every fragment contributes to the appearance of light and the softness of an often-female face. His portraits created by striking glass have earned international recognition and are presented in numerous exhibitions, fairs, and institutional and private collections around the world.
