An inspiring evening that gives young people a voice in public debate.
Aix-Marseille University, Saint-Charles Campus
Eight students from across France will take the stage to defend their vision of the agriculture and food of tomorrow.
After several months of learning about agricultural, food, and climate issues, civic reflection, and public-speaking training, the finalists of the national oratory competition “Eating Today, Feeding Tomorrow” will present their arguments to a jury, a panel of experts, and the public.
Each finalist will have four minutes to make their case and share proposals on essential topics: access to quality food, the agricultural transition, social justice, food sovereignty, and the fight against climate change.
On the program:
• Speeches by the 8 finalists,
• Responses from a panel of experts from the nonprofit, institutional, and research communities,
• The jury's awards ceremony,
• An exhibition of civic contributions written by the students,
• Opportunities to talk with project partners and participants.
Beyond the competition, this evening is an opportunity for dialogue and collective reflection on the major food challenges of our time. It aims to give a voice to a generation that will directly face the consequences of today's agricultural, food, and climate choices.

Created by Bio Consom'acteurs and FAIRe un monde équitable, the oratory competition “Eating Today, Feeding Tomorrow” gives students an opportunity to speak about agricultural, food, social, and climate issues.
Throughout the year, participants receive support from specialist associations to deepen their understanding of these issues, and from Éloquentia to develop their public-speaking skills.
This second edition involved 223 students across France. Around sixty of them, from five universities, wrote a civic contribution setting out their hopes for the future of agriculture and food. Nine finalists were selected from all the participants for this national final.
Come discover their ideas, support their commitment, and join an evening celebrating young people's voices.

Organized by: Bio Consom'acteurs
Recognizing that consumer choices influence production methods, the Bio Consom’acteurs association works to promote agriculture that respects people and nature, from farm to fork. Founded in 2004 by members of civil society, Bio Consom'acteurs was originally established to promote this way of eating, which responds to the social, environmental, and economic challenges humanity must meet in the 21st century. Beyond food, Bio Consom'acteurs supports all forms of sustainable and responsible consumption—that is, consumption that uses resources sparingly and respects people and ecosystems.

Our association's initiatives
Ludobio
The Ludobio educational kit was created in May 2015. It contains five games that teach about food and provide information on organic farming. They cover livestock farming, the production of processed foods (from field to plate), seasonality, a balanced diet, and the role of the five senses in eating. It is intended for children aged 6 and up. It is available to purchase here.
Organic food for everyone
The “Organic food for everyone” project by the Bio Consom'acteurs association aims to combat food waste and improve access to organic products for people experiencing hardship. A petition has already gathered 23.000 signatures, and initiatives are set to launch: - Preparing and selling regular solidarity meals made with organic food at pay-what-you-can prices in community spaces for people experiencing hardship - Holding awareness-raising workshops during solidarity meals, using educational tools, including Ludobio - Creating a solidarity day at partner organic stores to provide the meals
Educational booklets
Bio Consom'acteurs has published three educational booklets and a short publication:
-
“Organic food: questions and answers,” explaining what organic food is to a general audience.
-
“Study organic,” intended for students (who often have limited financial resources)
-
“Organic food in school catering,” explaining to parents how they can approach their child's school to encourage it to introduce organic food in the cafeteria.
These booklets can be downloaded free of charge from the Bio Consom'acteurs website. “Organic food: questions and answers” is also available in print (Note: printed copies of “Organic food in school catering” and “Study organic” are out of stock).
- The short publication “Expressions of collective interest: achieving the transition” was written by members of the association's support committee. It offers alternatives that respect everyone, for a fairer world and a healthier environment. The authors restate their fundamental commitments to achieving the essential transition in organic agriculture and food, health, nutrition, the environment, and also the solidarity economy and finance. It is on sale for 5 euros here.
Educational posters
Bio Consom'acteurs has created three educational posters:

-
the seasonal fruit and vegetable calendar

Zero pesticides, 100% organic
Zero pesticides, 100% organic is a citizen mobilization and advocacy campaign aimed at encouraging elected officials to commit their municipalities to reducing pesticide use and introducing organic food in institutional catering. Launched in February 2014 for the municipal elections, Zero pesticides, 100% organic has three components:
-
Citizens contacting elected officials using a mobilization kit available here
-
Bio Consom'acteurs and its partners (Générations futures and Agir pour l'environnement) contacting elected officials by sending mayors a questionnaire about their practices regarding pesticide use and the introduction of organic products in institutional catering.
-
Creating maps of organic and/or pesticide-free municipalities in France on the websites http://www.villes-et-villages-sans-pesticides.fr/ and http://www.villes-et-villages-bio.fr/
-
Launching the Zero pesticides, 100% organic award in November 2014, which involves sending a detailed questionnaire to municipalities across France about whether or not they are committed to organic farming and avoiding pesticide use. The award was presented to the most exemplary municipalities in 2015, during the Week for Alternatives to Pesticides.
