About this event
Weaving together life stories, wondrous worlds, fantastical glimpses, and poetry, this is a group creative adventure exploring the theme of origins: the origin of our desire to look further, to tell what the eyes cannot see.
This gathering, experienced as a group adventure, is suited both to beginning storytellers and to more experienced ones who want to reflect on spoken language and imagination while also taking action. It is an invitation to enter a creative process inspired by François Lavallée’s approach, which draws on stories that weave together the intimate, the imaginative, and social questions.
Each participant must bring a meaningful object that takes them back to the origins of their desire to speak. It may seem very simple, or be surprising and intriguing—an object that has become a precious reminder of a memorable adventure, a powerful emotion, or someone encountered along a path,...
Starting from this object and through a series of exercises, an emotion will emerge and become material for a story. By moving from one point of view to another, we will question the foundations of the storyteller’s craft. It will be a wonderful opportunity to pause together and create a suspended space in which to let our inventiveness flow.
FINAL OBJECTIVE
• Create a short story that conveys the emotion at the origin of one’s artistic commitment.
Specific objectives
• Stimulate creativity by using a meaningful object charged with a strong emotion
• Explore an object’s qualities and possibilities through the senses
• Structure a life story that weaves together the world of wonder tales and/or fantasy and poetry
• Reflect on and return to the foundations of oral storytelling: voice, gesture, and silence
• Develop our ability to receive and give through group work
• Learn through the group-work process to discover our potential to pass things on, which lies at the heart of the storyteller’s practice

Since 2003, L’éolienne has been a center for creation and development dedicated to storytelling, based in Marseille and active throughout the region. At the heart of its projects are ideas of exchange, cultural diversity, and a commitment to welcoming all audiences.
L’éolienne includes:
• A program of storytelling events and artistic residencies at Archipel 49 in Marseille
• An extensive program of off-site storytelling performances for all ages, at numerous libraries and partner venues (more than 150 performances annually)
• A partner in several events and festivals
• A hub for numerous cultural and community-engagement initiatives, including monthly storytelling circles for children and adults, and activities for all audiences, particularly in social, healthcare, and correctional facilities.
