About this event
La Violeta is a poetic, political, and experimental music project. It draws on the protest traditions of Latin American singer-songwriting while weaving heartfelt connections with Europe and the East. Keyboards and electronic arrangements engage in a dialogue with the sounds of the oud, creating a hybrid musical language that is both organic and dreamlike.
This project is also a migrant song that honors roots and paths of exile. La Violeta speaks of the experience of being a foreigner and of displacement, but also of the beauty and strength that emerge from these fractures. Its voice is fragile and fierce at once, because the woman singing is many. This sonic hybridization is a metaphor for the contemporary world: a world in motion, shaped by many influences, exiles, and transformations.
