Meet the artistic team after the performance on Thursday, May 13. What if, rather than looking at our own navels, we paid more attention to others? What if, despite our differences, we moved forward together in the same direction? In this creation for young audiences, choreographer Ambra Senatore seeks to unravel “not the same” and its misunderstandings in order to weave together community and relationships in which difference is a strength. The performers embody a miniature, ever-changing society. Together, they move forward, follow one another, accompany one another, move apart and then reunite. Their movements tell of hesitations and impulses… Listening to one another, they also interact with the audience, whom they call upon to witness their thoughts, questions and feelings. Little by little, differences fade in favor of the relationship being built… In The Other People’s Mill (working title), Ambra Senatore mischievously twists a famous Italian expression and invites us to divert the flow of water, not toward ourselves, but toward others. With a touch of madness tucked beneath delicate layers of tenderness and humor, this show is decidedly a game of steps—and even a game in general.
