Comic book artist Charles Berberian, born in Baghdad and raised in Beirut, traces the thread of a family history that crisscrosses the Mediterranean over the generations: Egypt, Armenia, Iraq, Greece, Cyprus…

On stage, some of his drawings are projected while others take shape live, following the movement of his pen. Alongside him, singer Herminée Nurpetlian and musician and composer Charbel Haber — a leading figure in Lebanon’s alternative music scene, at the crossroads of rock and electro — accompany this journey. Together, they create a vibrant and generous performance in which images and music are invented in the moment, and intimate stories meet the broader history of the Mediterranean. A sensitive fresco about exile and multiple identities, resonating with the theme of these Nouvelles Rencontres d’Averroès.
