Mazzika Orchestra: an Eastern orchestra between heritage and modernity Founded in 2017 by Dr. Shadi Hakmeh, Mazzika Orchestra defines itself as Europe’s first Eastern orchestra. Since 2019, it has been under the artistic direction of Dr. Amal Guermazi, an award-winning violinist with a doctorate in musicology from the Sorbonne. The ensemble’s mission is to preserve and reinterpret the Arab musical heritage with rigor and boldness. The flagship program “Arab Divas” perfectly illustrates the orchestra’s approach: paying tribute to the great female voices of Arab musical history through works by Oum Kalthoum, Fairouz, Warda, Majida El Roumi and Julia Boutros. In May 2025, Mazzika Orchestra notably performed at the Bataclan in Paris, confirming its prominence on major European stages. How do you get to the Cepac Silo in Marseille?
