Les 900 ans d’Averroès — Averroès parmi nous

The year 2026 coincides with a symbolic anniversary: the 900th anniversary of the birth of the Andalusian philosopher Averroes (Ibn Rushd). A major figure in medieval Islamic thought, a great translator and transmitter of knowledge, he will be at the heart of a major discussion, notably with philosopher Jean-Baptiste Brenet, an Averroes specialist, exploring the continuing relevance of his legacy. Researchers from throughout the Mediterranean will be invited to discuss and testify to Averroes’s intellectual legacy and the circulation of his ideas in an unprecedented format combining spoken contributions, projection and reading, with texts, images and documents enriching the discussion.
