Los Tchicaos - Trio

A musical journey between Cape Verde and Brazil. Los Tchicaos’ repertoire of covers and original compositions is a delicious, lilting blend of island rhythms: morna—a quintessential Cape Verdean genre steeped in saudade, popularized by Cesária Évora and inscribed on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list—as well as lively coladeira, energetic funaná and ancestral batuque, alongside Brazilian influences. Sung in Portuguese and Cape Verdean Creole, this blended music, born of the encounter between Europe and Africa, feels like an invitation to travel. The trio, associated with the Marseille organization Cap-Vert l’Avenir, proudly carries this island culture forward, with two voices, two guitars and percussion.
