Espace Julien welcomes Orange Blossom, the cult band. It is impossible to put Orange Blossom in a box, even if that box contained the whole world, because Orange Blossom goes far beyond “world music”. Electro? The same. Orange Blossom is the vision of Carlos Robles Arenas, a Mexican composer based in Nantes who has drawn from Turkish, Egyptian, Malian, Senegalese and Cuban traditions, with vocals sung in Arabic, Persian and Portuguese, to offer the world a fourth album of contemporary music that is both limpid and mysterious. As alluring as a siren’s song, these thirteen new tracks, released after ten years, take us between a frenzied dance floor and a meditation room without the slightest contradiction. If beauty had a soundtrack, it would include tracks by Orange Blossom. A new Orange Blossom album is an event that delights aficionados and is ready to win over new followers. Perhaps this is what is meant by a cult band, coming from another world and led by a conductor who is never afraid to dare to seek inspiration “deep within his soul” in order to create pure contemporary music
