Since her first works, Leïla Ka has embodied a dazzling energy that blows us away, moves us, embraces us and carries us along. While the female figure is always at the heart of her repertoire, the subject matter is particularly vehement in Lullaby Shot.
In this piece, the choreographer upends everything: the eight dancers in this score let themselves go, give in, overflow and break free from their corsets. Gone are the straight backs and stiff necks: limbs whirl, hips sway, all tension revoked. Delicacy, manners and restraint are forgotten. To hell with propriety and assigned roles! Now is the time for emancipation, for physical, raw dance. All of it fueled by an electro soundtrack, perfectly attuned to this militant and liberating letting go.
