Ports d’attache : Football, supporters et identités dans les villes portuaires
Enhanced conference Presented by Campus AFD and INA
Thu, 12 Nov 2026 · 18:00Evening
About this event
In Marseille, as in Naples, Algiers or Piraeus, football is much more than a sport: it creates a sense of belonging, stories and collective memories.
Drawing on INA archives, the discussion will examine how migration, port connections and popular cultures shape particularly strong football identities. It will also explore how supporters extend, transform and export the image of their city far beyond the stadium.
Speakers:
Julien Sorez, professor of contemporary history at Université Paris Nanterre, specializing in the social and urban history of sport Ludovic Lestrelin, sociologist at Université de Caen Normandie, specializing in supporter culture, particularly among OM supporters. The conference will be moderated by journalist Mélanie Masson.
