Tie-Break

Tie-Break is first and foremost a trio with a groove. Led by Marseille pianist Cyril Benhamou, the group lays down its harmonies and the distinctive groove that defines its sound, in the vein of contemporary jazz—Tigran Hamasyan, Avishai Cohen and Robert Glasper. Extended improvisations, lively drums and finely woven double bass make for music that loves to surprise (and suspend time). Pianist, flutist and composer Cyril Benhamou is no newcomer: winner of the SACEM composition first prize and noticed during a residency at Le Baiser Salé in Paris, he has released the albums Three in a Box (2018) and Red Alert (2022) and performed at Jazz à Vienne, Marseille Jazz des Cinq Continents, Jazz à Juan and Marciac. Modern, melodic and soulful jazz—not to be missed.
