EL CID ! AFTER CORNEILLE 1h30 | Ages 8 and up Directed by Philippe Car
With: Philippe Car, Lucie Botiveau, Anaïs Delmas, Nicolas Delorme and Vincent Trouble
Shaped by the cultural and musical influences of a three-month journey, created on the roads of Spain and Morocco, and conceived as a thriller, El Cid ! brings the tragic close to the marvelous and the comic. The action unfolds on a dreamlike carousel, like a fairy tale… The presence of Alonzo, a narrator and bumper-car taxi driver played by all five actors, puts Corneille’s text and reflections into perspective. Should honor be defended?
The music, performed live by all the actors, accompanies the action like a film score and gives the show an atmosphere that shifts between the epic and Spanish music hall.
★ Press ★ El Cid ! is a flamboyant show, bringing the joy and warmth of fairground theater into theaters and under the big top. — Stradda An exhilarating performance. A theatrical world to discover without delay! — Françoise Sabatier, Télérama
