Formation Vivre l'expérience du conte - Florence Ferin - 27-28 fév. 2027

Workshop - Marseille - February 27-28, 2027 TRAINING: “EXPERIENCING STORYTELLING” with Florence Férin

Across a period

About this event

This two-day training is for anyone who wants to discover or improve their public speaking through the artistic practice of storytelling. It is open to everyone, from beginners to more experienced participants. Everyone’s strengths will be highlighted, so that they can trust their own creative world. Each person’s work nourishes the whole group, whether they are a beginner or experienced.

A willingness to speak in front of an audience is recommended, primarily using traditional tales as source material.

Learning objectives:

• Tell traditional tales while becoming the author of your own spoken word. This theoretical and practical training enables participants to grasp the vast world of storytelling and experience the real pleasure of telling stories by becoming the author and performer of their own words.

• Enter the world of storytelling and imagination - exploration – improvisation.

• Identify the structure of tales and understand the storyteller’s work.

• Take on a traditional tale and write a personal version.

• Tell this tale aloud, find your place, and perform it with the audience in mind.

• Appreciate your oral writing.

Content:

Through brief theoretical presentations, playful exercises, and joyful exploration, participants will be able to:

✗ Take the path of the imagination

✗ Follow the trails of the tale and discover it in its historical, literary, social, human, and artistic context

✗ Welcome the tale into their personal world, whether conscious or unconscious, real or imaginary

✗ Adopt the storyteller’s stance by becoming the author of their own spoken word

✗ Develop the quality of narration and the evocation of characters

✗ Improvise and explore their own imagination

During this training, participants will undertake individual creative work: each participant will be given the “skeleton” of an oral-tradition tale (from « Le conte populaire français » by P. Delarue and M.L. Ténèze). Using this structure as a creative constraint, everyone can enjoy enriching the tale with their own imagination.

Teaching methods:

Listening is at the heart of the approach:

  • The trainer’s supportive listening.

  • The active listening of the participants present.

  • Listening to the chosen tale—its content, meaning, rhythm, musicality, and resonance with the personal world of the person who chose it.

  • Listening to oneself, through one’s own hesitations, fears, surges of enthusiasm, blocks, releases, excitement, flights of fancy, and even dance steps…

The experience is immediate: performing in front of the other participants helps people become comfortable speaking in public, reassured and supported by the presence of a close-knit group.

Each participant will receive a summary file at the end of the training, and will have access to an extensive bibliography. Time for feedback is set aside at the end of each day. Everyone’s experience, enthusiasm, or difficulties are taken into account. Individual guidance will be offered. Every path is unique.

Florence FERIN

Florence first encountered public speaking as a tour guide accredited by the heritage department. But she soon discovered the art of storytelling and studied with Henri Gougaud. Over the past 30 years, she has created around thirty shows, performed for audiences of all ages and backgrounds, and explored shared paths of expression—with playfulness and poetry—with musicians, dancers, actors, and circus artists. More than 2000 performances have taken her to every region of France and beyond its borders.

For very young children, she creates dedicated repertoires combining traditional nursery rhymes with carefully crafted original stories, shaped by her long experience and commitment to symbolic language suited to the youngest audiences. The creator of numerous projects, she is now recognized as one of France’s leading artists in storytelling for very young audiences.

Her love of sharing is reflected in her busy and highly regarded work as a storytelling trainer for many organizations in France, as well as for GRETA. Since 2019, she has also been engaged in a long-term mentorship with storyteller and project leader Claire Leray, built on sharing knowledge and working together.

Florence embraces the freedom offered by the material of a tale: something kneaded with skill and tenderness, left to rest, then baked using the memory of the senses. Her search for precise imagery, including the pleasure of sound, and her stage presence make her performance a special connection between her, her audience, and her stories, marked by warm contact and direct simplicity.
