Exposition "Photographier le patrimoine du Liban, 1864-1970"

Photographing Lebanon’s heritage, 1864–1970: little-known photographs from Beirut’s Bibliothèque orientale ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In partnership with the Institut du monde arabe and the Bibliothèque orientale of Saint-Joseph University of Beirut, this exhibition at the Alcazar offers an opportunity to (re)discover Lebanon through a rich selection of photographs and historic books. The photographs, drawn from Beirut’s collections, capture moments of everyday life, monuments and landscapes, creating a lasting record of fragile heritage—sometimes vanished, often endangered, and always at risk. The drawn and printed documents preserved in the rare and precious collections of the city of Marseille share this same desire to preserve a record of Lebanon’s riches. This exhibition is therefore an unprecedented dialogue between the collections of two heritage libraries on either side of the Mediterranean. **Opening on May 21 at 5:30 p.m., attended by the exhibition curators, who will offer a guided tour of the exhibition.**
