Hyperboles

Skateboarding shares all the codes of circus. Nine female performers demonstrate this in this bold creation. Skateboarding and circus have many things in common: both require exceptional physical strength, a perfect sense of balance, constant risk-taking and mastery of falls. In the collective imagination, these worlds remain largely associated with men. To challenge these clichés, artist Coline Garcia brings together nine female circus performers and skateboarders in Hyperboles. Together, they invent a new choreographic and acrobatic language at the intersection of their two disciplines. Around a large wooden structure that can be manipulated in full view, they string together flights, jumps and slides. Their impressive figures are performed joyfully and in harmony, to the rhythm of percussion and an immersive soundtrack. The result transforms the stage into a vibrant, festive space.
