Le bonheur clandestin, the new creation by Compagnie AR, presents a contortion duo exploring a place where happiness is not immediately visible. This is neither a solitary endurance test nor the use of another person for personal gain, but a journey that requires the construction of a fragile and delicate exchange, forcing the performers to invent a way of sharing the ordeal without passing it on. The resemblance to fakirs is deliberately diverted. This is not about asceticism or a taste for spectacle, but rather about attempts at attentiveness. The bed of nails is not an act; it materializes adversity... From then on, the constraint becomes the possibility of an experience of perception and slowing down through a form of interdependence. The highlight of the show is how we hold together in this metaphor for a world in which we must keep moving forward even when it hurts.
