Should you dare to take the first step or wait for the other person to risk it? In a domestic space that has become uninhabitable, the floor is covered with nails, yet two women try to make it their home. Le bonheur clandestin, the company AR’s latest creation, presents a contortion duo exploring a place where happiness does not immediately reveal itself.
This is neither a solitary test of endurance nor the use of another person for personal gain, but a journey that requires the construction of a fragile and delicate exchange, forcing the invention of a way to share the ordeal without passing it on. The resemblance to fakirs is deliberately subverted. This is not about asceticism or a taste for spectacle, but rather about attempts at attentiveness. The bed of nails is not an act; it embodies adversity...
From then on, the constraint becomes the possibility of an experience of perception and slowing down within a form of interdependence. The highlight of the show is the way we hold together in this metaphor for the world, where we must keep moving even when it hurts.
