The exhibition « Au cœur de la Provence – Collection FRAOP » invites the public to discover an exceptional group of works from the Fonds régional d’acquisition des œuvres provençales (FRAOP). Established in 1989, this heritage collection comprises 138 paintings created between 1840 and 1950, offering a remarkable overview of artistic creation inspired by Provence.
From landscapes bathed in light to scenes of everyday life, from Mediterranean shores to inland villages, the works on display reveal the diversity of perspectives on this land of inspiration. They reflect the evolution of artistic sensibilities while celebrating the enduring Provence whose beauty, colors and traditions have nourished several generations of painters.
By displaying 59 major works from this collection, the Musée Regards de Provence continues its mission of promoting Provençal artistic heritage and highlights a collection that is rarely presented in its entirety. The works engage in dialogue with the museum’s identity and invite visitors to explore more than a century of creation, between heritage, memory and the renewal of pictorial forms.
Designed to be shared with as many people as possible, the FRAOP collection contributes to passing on a shared heritage and promoting Provence’s cultural influence. Au cœur de la Provence thus offers a sensitive journey through the landscapes, light and stories that have shaped artists’ imaginations, allowing visitors to rediscover Provence through the eyes of those who painted it.
The exhibition is co-produced with ARSUD.
