Concert Paul Lecocq
Last year, his name became known around the world when he won the Clara Haskil Competition in Vevey, Switzerland. The audience prize made his victory even more indisputable. Diapason magazine described him as “flamboyant.” No surprise, given that he has been performing on stage since childhood. His vibrant and colorful playing has become more refined over time, notably in Aubagne under the guidance of Bernard d’Ascoli. Paul Lecocq has chosen Brahms for his Sunday-morning recital. Two Sarabandes as a tribute to Bach, the highly passionate Sonata No. 2 dedicated to Clara Schumann, and the Seven Fantasies, Op. 116, which critic Hanslick called a “breviary of pessimism.” PROGRAM BRAHMS 2 Sarabandes WoO 5 Sonata No. 2 in F-sharp minor, Op. 2 Seven Fantasies, Op. 116
