Fêlures

The title refers to the exploration of a poetic interstice in which new life can emerge, like plants growing in a crack in the concrete of a sidewalk.

About this event

Fêlures is an exhibition bringing together a series of installations that celebrate the repurposing of objects and technologies.

Through various collections of stones, absinthe spoons transformed into electronic components, birdhouses... This exhibition is conceived as a collection of low-tech experiments, driven by a desire to reconnect with aesthetics and know-how that are deeply human and removed from today’s techno-optimistic narratives.

Rather than seeing progress as a solution to humanity’s ills or advocating the use of technology in every area of our lives, the artist reveals our own obsolescence in the face of the technical development of our societies and proposes taking the risk of working with our weaknesses, even if it means disrupting our own equilibrium.

Quentin Destieu is an artist and holds a doctorate in artistic and literary practice and theory. He lives and works between Marseille and Cahors.

He is the founder of the GAMERZ art festival in Aix-en-Provence and of Lab-GAMERZ, a residency and training center focused on digital practices in contemporary art. He is currently working to establish a collective space for artists in a semi-rural setting in Cahors: la Pouponnière.

His artistic work explores digital media and their effects on the development of our societies. He questions a world saturated with technology by playing with the boundaries and relationships between digital countercultures and popular cultures. His research examines and highlights the connections between activist practices and contemporary artistic avant-gardes.

Founder of the Dardex collective with Sylvain Huguet, he has regularly exhibited his work at various festivals and exhibitions in France and abroad since 2003.
