About this event

Two generations of actors reinvent a theatre classic to reveal its relevance today.

Thus begins The Seagull: one summer, in a house beside a lake, Konstantin Treplev is preparing to present the play he has written for Nina, whom he is madly in love with. Facing his mother Arkadina, a famous actress, and Trigorine, a renowned writer, he dreams of a new theatre. The show begins, but nothing goes as planned. Art becomes fragile ground. Passions collide there.

Everyone is seeking love, recognition and another possible life. In this theatrical and musical creation, eight artists mischievously revisit this play from the last century to create an unprecedented dialogue about our time. In interaction with the audience, they create an intimate space, a refuge. A true inner theatre unfolds there, as the actors share their own questions: how does the play resonate in their lives?

What does it mean to create something together? What does this increasingly common injunction— to succeed in life—mean?

Directed by Nicolas Arancibia and Alexis Moati With Nicolas Arancibia, Carole Costantini, Pierre Laneyrie, Mathilde Marsan, Alexis Moati, Malo Moati, Emma Paris and Nicolas Rochette.
