La belle et la bête

Based on Apuleius, Mme de Villeneuve and Mme Leprince de Beaumont Because she sacrificed herself to save her father, Belle finds herself in a castle inhabited by a half-man, half-beast creature. Against all expectations, the Beast lets her live at his side… An initiation tale in which the heroine faces trials that enable her to attain independence and love. A tale of redemption in which the Beast, through his kindness, reveals himself to be a handsome prince. The meeting of these two is an event—indeed, the advent of otherness itself—an ode to love built on the experience of difference. A story with many adaptations, ours draws on this multiplicity without forgetting either Cocteau’s poetry or Walt Disney’s humor, thus offering several nods to cinema.
