Octobre Rose à Marseille : sensibilisation et prévention du cancer du sein
About this event
Throughout October 2026, Marseille is joining the Octobre Rose campaign, launched by SOS Cancer du sein. The program includes lighting the Palais du Pharo pink from September 29 to October 15, charity regattas departing from the Vieux-Port on Sunday, October 11, and a Village Santé at Frais-Vallon on October 21 and 22. These free events are open to everyone and focus on prevention and screening. Octobre Rose comes to Marseille for a month of breast cancer awareness Every October, the Octobre Rose campaign brings associations, institutions, and citizens together around a major public health issue: the fight against breast cancer. In 2026, the City of Marseille is renewing its commitment as an official partner of this initiative led by SOS Cancer du sein. At the heart of the campaign: providing information, raising awareness, and encouraging early screening, since 60% of breast cancers are detected at an early stage, a decisive factor in the chances of recovery. The figures underscore the urgency of action: 62,214 new cases of breast cancer were diagnosed in France in 2023, and 20,000 of them could have been prevented. Against this backdrop, Marseille is organizing several events across the city, designed to reach as many people as possible. Festivals and events in Marseille regularly contribute to this kind of civic awareness, and Octobre Rose is one of its most unifying expressions. In the Bouches-du-Rhône department, the campaign takes on symbolic significance starting September 29, when the Palais du Pharo, an emblematic monument of the Phocaean city, is illuminated in pink until October 15. This striking, visible gesture aims to make the campaign part of Marseille's public spaces and remind passersby of the importance of screening. Sporting and medical events for all women of Marseille One of the program's highlights, the “Rose” Regattas are a special event. This event is part of a broader range of municipal services, including the International Vaccination Center, Sport Santé Séniors, and the Maison Sport Santé, all available to the public year-round.
