Que faire des interdits, le mur ?
Three two-and-a-half-hour writing workshops led by Cie Totem
1- « Prohibitions »
Starting from Annette Messager's book « Interdictions », write by drawing on memories, public spaces and the imagination to reach the intimate.
2- « Climb over the wall »
A workshop forming part of a broader theatre-writing process previously undertaken with students. To write is to climb over the wall. Writing prompts such as improvised dialogue, trying out different points of view.
3- « Where do you come from, bad girl? »
Continuing the work already begun, we will move from gathering material to asking questions, escaping into monologue and perhaps into the world.
Workshops open to everyone aged 15 and over, for groups of five to twelve people. Each workshop can be attended individually.
Based in residence at Centre Culturel René Char in Digne, Compagnie Totem has been based in the Alpes de Haute Provence since 1996. It ventures into places rarely visited by culture: prisons, hospitals... Interested in the transmission of knowledge and committed to a theatre that is always evolving, the company develops theatre projects connected to contemporary writing.
The facilitators hold a university diploma in leading writing workshops.
Sylvie Beaujard, director of Cie Totem for more than 20 years, has worked with Théâtre du Fil and Collectif Katibur, encountered radio-creation workshops, and worked in cinema as Luc Moullet's assistant.
Marie Patou is a writer and storyteller. She divides her time between theatre, leading workshops (theatre, writing, children as storytellers), storytelling for different audiences, and her writing (novels, poetry, theatre).
Organized by: La plume et l'image
From a one-off workshop to support with a longer writing project, you will find an option that suits you among our offerings.
Our workshops are open to everyone, beginners and experienced writers alike, to discover the pleasure of writing and sharing, and to explore different types of texts and themes.
What makes us distinctive:
• all our creative writing workshops are led by trained, experienced facilitators holding the DU “Formation à l’animation d’ateliers d’écriture” from Aix-Marseille University, or by authors and artists with solid workshop facilitation experience;
• writers and facilitators, who are members of our Board of Directors, define the priorities, programs, activities and rates. Since 2010, we have organized more than a thousand workshops in Marseille;
• hundreds of texts written in workshops have been published on our blogs, which are accessible to our members;
• every year, members take part in the university training program, and some later join the facilitation team.
