Blending testimony and fiction, Vanessa Larré conducts a sensitive investigation into the mechanisms that led a woman to prison following an infanticide. Not everything will be said or explained. The child at the heart of this story is not fictional. The play pays tribute to the child.
It was during a theater workshop in a prison that the director met Jeanne. Over the months, the two women became friends. Through meetings and confidences, a dialogue developed between them and continued beyond the prison walls after Jeanne’s release. The play grew out of this testimony, through an intimate investigation tracing the chain of events that led to Jeanne’s conviction.
Following her acclaimed adaptation of King Kong Théorie by Virginie Despentes and La Passe, written in 2019, Vanessa Larré continues her personal writing practice, between testimony and fiction, giving a voice to people with unconventional destinies.
