A sensitive investigation into the mechanisms that led a woman to prison following an infanticide… Part testimony and part fiction, Vanessa Larré conducts a sensitive investigation into the mechanisms that led a woman to prison following an infanticide. Not everything will be said or explained. The child in this story is not fiction. The play pays tribute to the child. It was during a theater workshop in a prison that the director met Jeanne. Over the months, the two women became friends. Through meetings and confidences, a dialogue developed between them and continued beyond the prison walls after Jeanne’s release. The play is written from this testimony, through an intimate investigation that traces the course of events surrounding the tragedy that led to Jeanne’s conviction. After her acclaimed adaptation of Virginie Despentes’ King Kong Theory and La Passe, written in 2019, Vanessa Larré continues her personal writing work, between testimony and fiction, giving a voice to people with transgressive destinies. Text by Vanessa Larré in collaboration with Florence Janas and Julie Denisse Conception and direction: Vanessa Larré With Julie Denisse, Florence Janas, Vanessa Larré, Stan Brunon Valette
