About this event
After hearing and seeing too much, I no longer listen, I fall silent, I become desensitized to the world, I muffle the screams, muteness sets in and vertigo appears. Vardhum places this sensation of vertigo at the heart of a circular world, where a cyborg character expresses its resistance to the flows passing through its bodily envelope through the persistence of the vocal act.
An act preceding language, voicing—or the transformation of breath into voice through the vocal cords—seeks to make physiological transcendence an act of music in itself. The solo opens with a festive and cynical celebration of the human condition. In incessant whirling, a coded dance emerges from hopping and unfolds into different rhythmic patterns. From a body caught in a frantic race, the voice attempts to be heard. One and the other, body and voice, join forces to create a dual musical and choreographic composition in which celebration and fatality merge.
